The separation and classification process is based on the shape of the seed, specifically its ability to roll. The machine is made from a combination of helical-shaped metal strips mounted on a central frame. The equipment resembles a vertical helical conveyor. The seed enters the equipment from the top. Round seeds descend faster compared to flat or irregularly shaped seeds. During their descent, the round seeds gain speed and, due to the centrifugal force created by the helical blades, they separate and enter the outer helical blade that moves them to the second chute. Seeds with an irregular shape descend more slowly, continuing down the inner helical blade in the center and exiting from the first chute. The capacity is increased by adding more helical blades to the sifters.
